Well, trees grow in Brooklyn, so…
hi all! just got my internet working at home — i moved in sunday, got the cable guy in on tuesday, the install went deficiently due to a damaged wire, then had to wait around this morning for the cable guy to come back and re-string the complete shebang. i’m in a new neighborhood, still in brooklyn. much more urban than my last neighborhood, which was more opulent 1930s residential. i’m barely a few blocks from the thalassic monitor, where freight ships unload, and cast of cut postponed from the position of brooklyn by the bqe (thanks, robert moses, you rat bastard!). on the additional side: much more fun neighborhood, with much more within walking distance, much closer to manhattan, and on the route of the city bus to ikea.but a particular utensil i wasn’t expecting: scaffold-dwelling raccoons. i just took my dog, junebug, for a sashay, and a sweetheart let me know that there was a raccoon hanging loose in the scaffolding at a renovation site around the corner. interesting meet-your-neighbors interest, for indubitable.it’s not that i’m surprised that there are raccoons in new york burgh — i used to greet them in my old neighborhood all the time. but there were more mature trees there, and houses with side yards, and prospect park was only a couple of blocks away. i’m merely weirded out that there’s one in such an urban area.
